Facebook is starting to allow better post targeting to fans. About time too.
What is it?
Page Post Targeting gives admins the ability to publish their Page posts to specific groups of fans in the news feed based on the following criteria:
- Interested In
- Relationship Status
How is it different than current targeting options?
Unlike current geo/language gating options, which restrict post visibility in news feed and on the Page timeline to only those who meet the selected gating criteria, Page Post Targeting only affects news feed. All content will remain on the Page and will be viewable by everyone. This will allow friends of fans to see viral stories after someone engages with it.
Who can use Page Post Targeting?
Page Post Targeting is available to all Pages with over 100 fans.
How do I use it?
- Step 1: Finding the feature: Publishing with Page Post Targeting can be done right on the Page composer. Click the “crosshairs” icon next to the page post scheduler and specify the targeting criteria for your post. A counter will appear to show you the size of your potential target group (your target group needs to be larger than 20 people).
- Step 2: Enter your content: Enter your content into the publishing composer
- Step 3: Publish your post
